The cooling tower at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in Russia-controlled Ukraine was so badly damaged by a fire last month that it will probably have to be demolished, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Rafael Grossi said.
Rafael Grossi assessed the damage during his fifth visit to the facility.
The Head of the Agency, working under the United Nations, said in a video he shared on X, “This big structure is not useful in the future, so it will probably be demolished.”he said.
Throughout the conflict, Russia and Ukraine have repeatedly accused each other of attacking the facility and risking a nuclear accident.
