Honor introduced the Magic V3 as the world’s thinnest foldable phone at IFA 2024 earlier this week. However, there were some issues with this launch. Honor did its best in marketing ahead of the launch and didn’t even hesitate to make a direct reference to Samsung.
First, Samsung’s foldable phones were mocked for being too thick. Then came the “world’s smallest apology”: a rather insulting message etched into the Magic V3’s hinge.
Now Honor’s marketing group is back for the third medical, and this time they’ve hit the streets.
There’s a van currently driving around the streets of France with a “review” written by “Sam Sung.” Yes, you read that right. That’s not a typo, folks.
Sam Sung is a biomedical sciences graduate from London (that’s what it says on the board) and describes the Magic V3 as “the number 1 foldable” and “much thinner and lighter” than his current phones.
Honor is really attacking its competitor with this aggressive marketing method. Perhaps this marketing tactic can even be shown as an example in future lessons.
