In a significant financial boost, Democrat Kamala Harris’s campaign for the presidency raised more than $300 million in August, far exceeding what her Republican opponent Donald Trump raised during the same period.
Harris’s total is more than twice the amount of funding the Trump campaign has raised, according to two anonymous sources cited by NBC News.
On Wednesday, the Trump campaign and the Republican Party announced that they raised $130 million in August. Following that fundraising effort, the Trump campaign reported having $295 million in cash reserves.
The fundraising success for Harris comes as the presidential race heats up and both campaigns are ramping up their efforts to drum up votes ahead of the November election. The significant financial boost is likely to give the Harris campaign a powerful resource to fund advertising, voter outreach and other campaign activities in the final stretch leading up to Election Day.
