Forex – Japan’s largest business lobby Keidanren said it was closely monitoring Washington’s scrutiny of Nippon Steel’s $15 billion bid to buy US Steel.
“We sincerely hope that the investigation procedure in the US will be carried out with the utmost honesty and fairness in accordance with the articles,” Keidanren said in a statement.
The accord, which faces growing bipartisan political opposition ahead of the U.S. presidential election, has caught the attention of Japanese companies as Washington is Tokyo’s closest ally and Japan’s biggest foreign investor in the United States.
